A Pirate's Life for Me!

In the 1980's pirate historical romances were quite the rage. Then someone killed them! Argh!  With the success of Walt Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean series, I am sure we are to see many pirate historicals return to the shelves in the next few months.  Which makes me wonder, can I can put a modern girl on an 18th century pirate ship?  I have seen time travel romance done dozens of times in medieval Scotland, why not in the Caribbean?  And why not a girl who has nothing to loose and nowhere to go? One whose heart has been broken and lost forever?  This is what I am working on now.  Ian and Isobell have been set aside.  After two years of wandering in circles with them, I am ready to move on.  Maybe they will decide to stop lounging about in my head and actually do something with their lives.  Until then, I am moving forward.

I'm the Iron Princess of the Reine (in case you need a character's name). And this sounds like a GREAT idea. I already can not wait to read it!

Perfect! Every Pirate story needs a Princess of sorts!

Wow. That does sound great. Is it separate from the Dear John letter story or does it turn into that? Either way sounds fantastic. I used to love old school pirate romances!! Actually, I liked any pirate story with a girl in it. Did you ever read the YA one by Avi (now, of course, I can't think of the title.) Incidentally, I'm the Iron Mistress of Death. Now. . . you took the test and you know how simple it is. How in the heck did the test know? LOL.

Hi Alyson!
THe Dear John Letter turns into the Pirate story. That is how it starts. I am so glad you like the idea!
I hope it is more funny than anything else.

That sounds really exciting. I would love to read something like that as well. If you have anything done so far, I would love to read some of your work. I really love romance novels, pretty much all I read. Hope you are able to keep it up with the inlaws arriving soon!!!

This sounds like a great idea! You could be responsible for bringing back the pirate romance!
